Disaster strikes a Texas intersection

On Behalf of | Oct 14, 2021 | Car Accidents |

Most Texas traffic analysts would agree that certain sections of roadway are inherently more dangerous than others. For instance, it is a known fact that intersections are high-risk areas for collision. Drivers must be especially cautious and alert when approaching a crossroad. On a recent Sunday, just after 2 p.m., a tragedy occurred at an intersection in Uvalde.

Two vehicles were involved in a crash

Preliminary investigations show that one of the drivers involved in the recent collision was navigating a left turn, moments before the crash. Police say he was turning in front of another car when the two vehicles collided. Sadly, the man behind the wheel of the turning vehicle, as well as a woman traveling as his passenger, both died as a result of their injuries.

Occupants of the vehicle were transported to a hospital

Two people who were in the other car survived the collision but suffered injuries. Rescuers took them to a nearby hospital for emergency care. No updates have been provided regarding their conditions. The highway was closed to traffic for several hours following the crash.

Intersection collisions often caused by driver negligence

Many fatal collisions occur at Texas intersections. It is not uncommon for investigators to discover that driver negligence or recklessness is a causal factor. If a person’s injuries were caused by another driver’s negligence, a recovering victim may seek compensation for damages in court. In a case where injuries are fatal, an immediate family member may act on behalf of a decedent to file a claim.
